VISIT
THE SIGHTS
Get to know the story of Moravia, which has been written since ancient times and is still witnessed by countless valuable monuments. From the ancient cultures, whose heritage is the Venus of Věstonice and the Mikulčice hillfort, to the great Moravian empire during the time of Cyril and Methodius. From the splendid noble mansions to the modern architecture of the nearby functionalist gem, Brno. Visit the memorable site of the Battle of the Three Emperors at Slavkov or one of the countless museums of Slovac folk and craft traditions. The treasures of South Moravia are also valued by UNESCO, which has included the beautiful Lednice Chateau complex and the functionalist Villa Tugendhat by the world-famous architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe as cultural heritage of mankind, and the Ride of the Kings and the “Slovac verbuňk” as intangible heritage on its list.
SLOVÁCKO
BY BIKE
Whether to work, education, entertainment, countryside, vineyards or prayer – cycling is present almost everywhere in the region of Slovácko. The opportunity to explore the beauty of Slovácko by bicycle is sought by more and more people who consider cycling as their lifestyle, but also as relaxation, joy and a way of discovery.
The Moravian Wine Trails, it is a 1,200 km long network of cycling routes connected into ten circuits named after the original wine regions, all of which are crossed by the 289 km long Moravian Wine Trail between Znojmo and Uherské Hradiště.
IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
ON FOOT
South Moravia is also a region of natural beauty and places that no wildlife lover should miss. The “Váté Písky” Park – the so-called Moravian Sahara with dunes like in the African desert, the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area, where mountains rise slowly in the landscape, reaching up to the clouds on the side of Slovakia. The vast and unique floodplain forests around Hodonín, where the Morava River pours out of its banks every year, creating a unique biotope of European importance.
A man has also left his significant trace on the landscape – the Bata Canal waterway offers a completely unconventional opportunity to get to know Slovácko from the deck of a boat.
